Hi Pete,
they are no longer in print, and are a little rare to get hold of

Most of the members have different copies and covering most of the years,
Most of us keep looking for copies on ebay and the like.

If there's a specific boat or question then I am sure that someone will always oblige with an answer.

If you do find anywhere let us know

cheers

Trev, Confederate - A 527 was a Sputnik class trawler I think, same as Pescoso II. Graham will know all about her for sure.

Trev,
Have a look at the olsens almanack thread
There are quite a few people who have the older Olsens that are sure to be able to answer your question.

Hello Trev. Zephyrus BCK269 (ex Mistletoe FR304, ex Confederate A527, )
I was skipper owner of Zephyrus from 1980 till she sank about the Forties field ? about 1997 ?. I wasn't onboard at the time, but she was on oil stand by duty, weather was poor at the time she sprung a leak in the fishroom.

ps. posted a photo in the gallery.

There are two Olsens for sale on abebooks fairly modern 1985 & 1978.
Hope you have an arm and a leg to spare, ones 30 and the other 40 plus pp.
To think most Grimsby trawlers had one new every year, at those prices there was a goldmine thrown away.

I'm not a chap, but I have access to several Olsens and glad to try and help, but all the names and numbers in this thread have my head in a spin! So I'll take it one by one and see if I can find anything of use to you. If I duplicate anything others have already posted, please forgive me.

1953 Olsen has Confederate; 131825; A207; GLLN; Steel; nett tons 77; horse power 57; built 1913 Aberdeen; owner Wm Brebner, Aberdeen & others.

1965 Olsen has Pygmalion (m); 182178; FD132; MXQK; nett tons 14; gross tons 34; horse power 120; built 1947 Brixham; owner James W Wright, Fleetwood.

I did not see BM162 in either 1965 or 1969, though in my copy of 1965 I don't have the list organised by port, so had to skim through the lot (more chance of missing something, though I hope I didn't, I saw BM 161).

Hope this is of some use.

Hilary

The only one of these numbers I can find in 1969 is BM137 William Allen, which I think someone already found. None of them are in the 1974 Olsen.

I have looked in some earlier Olsens but cannot find any of these numbers. Are you sure they were allocated to trawlers, and not to other types of ship?

Sorry, I don't seem to have been much use, after all, but hope someone else can help.

Hilary

I remember these almanacks being dumped each year when new ones arrived a lot of moneys worth if they were saved. There is always a few on Amason but they are always currently unavailable.
