i visited her in the 1970s when alongside in mobile ,alabama. i was sailing r/o on the cunard chieftain (brocklebank paintwork).
the alabama was in great condition, and was (is) in a vintage military park along with a few aircraft tanks etc; and the submarine......uss drum.
the uss alabama did little in ww2..........the sea battles were over when she arrived on scene ( a great ship to be posted (==D) ).........whereas the uss drum had a tough war.
i remember the large poster of h.m.s. belfast which was displayed in the booking office.
