Is there any old hands or officers out there who remember my Uncle harry, her served all his time with P&O until he retired in 1972 .47 years . He died in the Isle of White in May 1996 . In his retiement he worked a lot with the RNLB on the island. His last vessels were the Arcadia ,Iberia and then the big Straths and the Canton ,no doubt many more in the 47 years. We didnt see much of each other sometimes in Japan and only time for a beer in the moto matchi. I was on the Ben japan star service usually chasing the blueies and a couple of the new straths around the coast .
if you have any tales i would be pleased to hear them.

Hi Ian.
Just seen your entry regarding Harry. He was bosun on Iberia when I joined her in 1963 (left in 1965). He was affectionately known as Harry Rust as he was always concerned with the rusty paintwork. I was not deck dept. but he always had a kind word for us newboys.
Kind Regards, John
