Has anyone got some good pictures of the "Nordic Trader", ex"Iron Parkgate & Naess Parkgate", and any knowledge what happened to her. Sailed on her from May 77 till the end of September 77.

Dave,
The Nordic Trader shown is not the ex - Naess Parkgate.
I was on Naess Parkgate as 3rd Mate in 1969 - she was a 40,767 GRT bulk carrier. She is more likely the one broken up in 1985.
Vessel shown was only built in 1982.

Donald Campbell

Hello David,
I have just joined SN after seeing some interesting threads on Denholms. my career with them was short, Vancouver Island in '74 (4/E) then went to Malaysia to refit the Nordic Trader (3/E) after BHP (Australia - Ex Iron Parkgate) handed it back.
Sailed on her for 6 months before emigrating to Australia. been here since.
I was a cadet engineer with Blue Funnel, then Denholms, finished up as 2/E with BHP Fleet in Australia before moving into Power Stations.
I enjoyed my time with Denholms, hard work, great people, many happy memories and sailing to Australia twice convinced me that this is the place to be.If you come across any good photos of the Nordic Trader or her history please let me know.
Regards Ian
