Loved to see those Kellys Coal Boats when I was a kid, I think the romantic notions I had then of the life at sea for their crew was one as seen through rose coloured glasses.
Think the music was Aker Bilk playing Beyond the Sea
Enjoyed this little glimpse of it again
Cheers

Ted,

It was Acker Bilk and the tune was originally 'La Mer', made famous in the 1940s and 50s by Frenchman Charles Trenet. There is a clip of him singing it (late in his career) on another TouTube clip.

Ron,
Enjoyed that little trip with 'La Mer' but Kelly Boats would have been unable to keep up the pace towards the end where as Acker Bilk was a better measure.
Was that a tune which Marlene Dietrich also used to seduce all the males in her audience.
Cheers
