Yacht wrecks in Airlie Beach Queensland

13th February 2008, 00:43
Yesterday more than 30 vessels were blown ashore
The weather was 5-6 gusting 8 from the North.
The vessels were moored offshore Airlie Beach, in the Whitsundays which is a roadstead open to the North East.
Many vessels came ashore dragging their mooring blocks with them, in some cases having dragged half a mile or more.
The casualties include, commercial, racing and cruising vessels.
I have some photos on my phone and will try and post them
