There was an extended article, with a lot of pics, in "Ships in Focus Record" within the past couple of years - don't recall which one off hand, but I'll look at home tonight (if I remember) and will post the details later this week.

Definite memory lapse, the article on the Bowater fleet actually appeared in SIFR Nr 5 (Feb 1998), with a follow up in SIFR ( (June 1999)
A bit more than a couple of years !

1962'ish Had a great stay in Charlestown SC alongside Nina Bowater, joining Captain and Officers for a cracking party with staff members of the Charleston Post newspaper.

forby i served on this ship as a donkey man/greaser ihad not reached 18 years of age and at that time the donkey/grs where allowed 1 bottle of spirits a week and so i had to get the other guys to buy mine and then we put it in the bar on board if you want to know any more drop me a line murph

Whatever happened to this fleet of special ships?
Does the company have their Mills in Newfoundland still.
I worked with Bowater-Scott in Australia in the mid 60's as a Salesman selling Tissue Products.(a JV with the Scott Paper co of Philadelphia)
We had nothing to do with Newsprint.
Would be interested to know.

Would this be the ship you seek? My info is that this is a 1961 ship?

I sailed on the Nina Bowater For nearly 2 Years as 3rd Engineer it was a great ship have many happy memories.
