seing this post brings back memories of me standing at the quayside on the jetty where the pilot boat moored i was about severn and saw this battle ship being towed in the river at blyth on its way to bolkows to be broke up and i was always to this day under the impression it was H.M.S warspite and i wonder now at the age of 82 weather or not it was. albert.s.i.????

Albert definitely not the Warspite to see her story and fate clink on this LINK (http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/guides/Warspite) her entire life story is here also her fate.

Simple maths indicates you were standing there in about 1933 so we would be looking at one of the later dreadnoughts possibly an Iron Duke class ship or that era.

The link above leads to SN's directory ( at the top-centre of the SN home page) you will find information on nearly all the post Dreadnought British battleships up to the Nelson class of 1927 - whose history I am writing now, following this I will be doing the KGV class and then the battlecruisers
