Hi,
Just joined this great site.

I am doing research for my Dad who sailed on the Orsova from 1956 to 1961 (I think). He is Mick Lewis, 72 years old. He wasn't an officer or anything.

I am putting together a folder of memorabilia, pics and stuff for him and will eventually include a link to the site so he can join himself.

If anyone remembers him please get in touch or if you have any pics of the Orsova, please include them in your reply.

I'm having great fun looking through the threads etc. Congrats on a great site.

Hiya Marc,
There is a DVD available that features the Orsova, it's called The Cruise Liner Experience and is £7.49 from a BBC accredited supplier.
The DVD features 3 more liners, Oronsay, Arcadia and Oriana and is well worth viewing.
Phone 0844 848 2112 and it takes 10-14 days delivery.
I have a copy and it is good viewing.

Regards........... Ray.

Hi Marc,
I've just found out my Dad (now deceased) also joined the Orsova in 1956, on 24th April as a Deckboy in Tilbury. He was Bill (William Edward) Croasdale and he would have been 17 years old. I suspect this might have been his first ship job. He may have been on there until 1963, or he may have changed to another ship? but doing a similar run, when he jumped ship in Auckland, met my Mum got married and had me!
We also found out he had married a woman called Patricia Brett earlier in 1960 and had a little boy Christopher and then Anthony.
Here is the link to the ship's crew list I found on Ancestry.com. Not sure if you will be able to see it or not.

I would love to know if anyone remembers my Dad.
6 foot 4 tall, blue eyes and curly brown hair, and I'm sure was into any mischief going on!
In his late 20s, he worked on the BHP ships in Australia.
Any info from anyone, thanks, Donna
