Hi Guys,

Please can someone tell me how you convert a link into the word here . I have tried doing it various ways but nothing works so far.

Many thanks

Chris,

There may be other ways, and someone can put up a quicker route, but to talk you through it...

Firstly trying to write it out tends to lead to hiccups, as you get the wrong result, so please bear with me...

... first get a link by doing a COPY of the url that you need by going to the top bar; then doing Left Click then Right Click and COPY...

Then you PASTE (Right Click)

So you get this...

http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/73370/ppuser/3912

Then we move to stage three...

type in [url= INFRONT OF the url you pasted.... i.e just those 5 characters

12th April 2008, 22:18
So you now have:

[url=http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/galler...70/ppuser/3912

non descript
12th April 2008, 22:19
then you add a ] at the end...

so you now have:

then you just add the word you want, in this case you wanted here

so you type in that word...

non descript
12th April 2008, 22:22
so it now has grown into:

here

non descript
12th April 2008, 22:23
now we add some artistry and we use the tool bar just above this and we add bold and colour and whatever we want...

so we now have : so you now have: here

non descript
12th April 2008, 22:24
now for the last bit....

all we have to do now is add the closing part which is a added after that text

non descript
12th April 2008, 22:25
so you finally have this...

here (http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/73370/ppuser/3912)

non descript
12th April 2008, 22:26
but of course it does not show up as the long text we just talked about, as it has gone by magic into the small and short one word link, and you do not see the composite parts...

that is why I said, please bear with me (Jester)

If you want the easy way, Chris.
If you look in this quick reply window you'll see what looks like a globe with a link of anchor chain below it. Same in post reply window and in the gallery comment window.
Copy your link to your clipboard as per Mark's instructions.
Highlight the word you want to be the link word then click on the globe. You get a little window and all you have to do is paste the link where it says URL.
Do the colour and bold bit and Bob's your uncle or whoever.

Kris

Aaah! You were blocking pop-up, perhaps? [=P]
I wondered why you did it the long way round.
Thanks Mark that may explain why some other members are having problems.

Cheers
