Hello everyone. I was at sea 1943 - 1951 'Down Below' as Fireman on coal & oil burners and later as Donkeyman/Greaser. Any ex coal burning firemen out there?

Hello John, I reckon we must have rubbed shoulders in Avonmouth - either in the Merchant Navy Club, the Royal or the Miles. Do you remember Mr Beake, Manager of the Merchant Navy Club? also Frank Yard, Alex Cambell, Joe the Greek, s..t Wittard, the three Dorrington brothers and Johnny Grech, I was in the Delilian, Moveria, Montreal City, Bayano, Beecher Island, Golfito and Nicoya - all betwewen 1945 and 1951 Before then I shipped out of Manchester and London - Terry Worsley
