Was watching one of Ray Mears 'survival' programmes at teatime this evening and he told the story of the amazing survival for over a month in extreme Alaskan winter conditions of the passengers and crew of this ship in 1910. There was a photographer amongst them and he recorded the events. Included is a fascinating, ghostly image of the stranded ship, covered in ice after 12 days of snowstorms and extremely low temperatures, with only her very thin tall funnel and masts free of ice.
