A Scotsman in South East England

31st May 2008, 11:47
Hi everyone,

I have never been to sea professionally but I come from a sea-faring family, my great grandfather having been a whaler and ship's chandler, my grandfather having been a ship's engineer and my father having had a Royal Navy background seeing service during WWII on armed trawlers and submarines. I don't think it surprising, therefore, that I have had a lifetime interest in the sea and shipping.

I look forward to visiting the site often and perhaps contributing to the discussions.

Welcome to this great site Luceo and by South East England I presume you mean Kent.
You are seeing the demise of this county which was known as the Garden of England.
It is being suffocated by concrete.
