RMAS Whitehead (A364) was operated as a torpedo trials ship (hence the name) from build in 1972 through to paying off in 1991. Of 3,427 tons she was built by Scott's. It was hoped that she would be modernised for further trials work but the money was not forthcoming. She was sold to Incom of India in July 1992 and left the UK shortly afterwards for scrapping in India.
