Sailed on MV Northgate - Hull Gate Shipping Co - in 1961 for 6 months approx. and would like to know if anyone has any information regarding this ship.
500 Ton British coaster, believed to be converted landing craft WW11.

The following particulars and history of mv NORTHGATE might be of interest. I have also added some dates of arrival and departure and some dates of Lloyd’s Register survey, which I appreciate are “before your time”. The brief voyage reports are from Lloyd’s Shipping Index, from which the vessel was excluded from about 1956.

1954 fitted with British Polar 4-cylinder diesel (manufactured in 1952)
24.3.63 sprang leak and foundered 3 nm from Ouistreham lightvessel when on voyage from Caen to Flixborough with cargo of iron ore
