Mercy Ships latest hospital ship AFRICA MERCY under conversion on the River Tyne. Ex: Danish ferry.

Africa Mercy is still on the river but nearing completion. It has 4 Hospital wards, 6 Operating theatres and accommodation for 400 people.

I think she will be on the Tyne forever. There doesn't appear to be much other work for the yard so they'll probably hang on to her as long as they can. Latest sailing date is Autumn 2006.

How wrong can you get, as a charity Mercy ships only work on the vessel as and when they have the funds. The yard has a full ordr book to the year end.

The Africa Mercy has just berthed this evening, 29/03/2007, at Battleship Wharf, Blyth, so she has obviously left the Tyne.
I hope that is not an omen as that used to be the breakers wharf in times gone by!!
