Varicella - Grain and Goats

Does anybody here recall the Varicella carrying out Grain Lightening operations off Karachi. 1975 I think. Lots of cadets passed through, most of them with only a few weeks of "time" required before qualifiying for their tickets. At one time there 15 of them. We also had about 50 shore labourers and 50 goats to feed them with. (Cooked over bonfires on deck, a bit of a deviation from normal tanker practice!)

I expect lots of stories from this one

A goat each! Better than the average lodge meeting.

That was normally about 4 weeks supply two goats per night. We were also laden with bales of hay for the goats to feed on. I recall one of the shore crew had lined his hammock with straw trying to sleep while fighting off a goat that was eating his bed!
