Strange pop-up window

Hi all,
I am just wondering if anyone else has this small annoying pop-up window.
It is ****://go.globaladsales.com/creative/je/jemm-gambling-pop[htm deleted] It doesn't seem to be much of a problem other than it appears only when I am on SN. Of course, it may be that this annoyance is indigenous only here on my personal comflicter. Any ideas?

Regards
Lizzie

I've jut run SuperAnti-Spyware, Ad-Aware removal, Avast anti-virus. And I am still getting it. Although I should add, I've tested by going to dozens of other different known sites, such as BBC, ITV, You Tube etc. And not once did it appear on them. This is a confusing one indeed.

Yes, this is the third day that it is popping up on my computer, as well. The site is goglobalsales.com; doesn't seem to be a virus but it is annoying.

Along with it-the site was super slow last night. I gave up after 5 minutes of trying to fix a typo and the post not responding. Since everything else I opened was normal, it was here.

Glad to know it was not just me. I had it too and assumed it was originating in this site.

I`m still getting it, income generator for sure & most annoying. Also glad to know that I was not the only one having problems that seem to be generated by this site, such a shame.
Cheers,
David

Hi guys,
That windows pops up when you click in the empty area of the reply window, I think it is what they call an Ad or something like that........ But for sure: nothing serious!! (am I right Mods?)

It's being placed on your computer by those other pop-ups "You have 1 message" etc. I don't think it's 'mal-ware' but it IS 'nuisance-ware'.

The Moderator told me it was being removed. I sincerely hope it is .... VERY soon.

Yup, I am now getting one (past couple of days) when log in: It's called 'Totally Money' and web site url is: http://www.totallymoney.com/popunder/site_3_cards_multi.html.

My pop up blocker is not detecting this one!

Me to, only on the S/N site. A poker game and a match making agency.
I don't know whether to take a gamble or take the plunge.

Has this Pop-up ad anything to do with the slowness of the site. Seems to take ages to turn pages on new photos, new comments and new posts. still doing this morning Sunday 0800.

Im not seeing this pop-up, possibly because as an SN supporter I'm spared it? But I wouldn't see it anyway. For those of you bothered by pop-ups, pop-unders etc you could do a lot worse than get yourselves a good HOSTS file and a good Hosts file manager (and learn how to use it). All free. There is a slight learning curve but there is plenty of information on the internet. Currently I have something in the order of 63,500 servers blocked, just about all of which serve up ads, porn and other crap that would intrude on my life and would take my bandwidth to load. Properly done, there is absolutely no slowdown. Any slowdowns occur when loading crap that you don't want.

No, I'm an SN Supporter too and as soon as I logged in this morning, the ad popped up. Totally Money. Also, same problem here Old Strawbs......slow loading pages.....

Thanks for that info. I've never seen the ad so guess it is pretty clear that my defences work. A journey onto the internet with a Hosts file is a revelation after being sent insane by popups etc. A combination of a good internet security system, pop up blocker in a decent browser plus HOSTS file works wonders. I do not see that sort of ad... ever..and haven't for some years.

For those enlightened souls who use Firefox, Adblock Plus is well worth investigating too (as an alternative to a Hosts file).

In Internet explorer if you have the status bar enabled, you will see on the right "Protected Mode: On", Double click that and a window will open marked Internet Security, click box marked Restricted Sites. The url of the pop up should be in the box, click ADD. That will block the Pop up in future.

Ta BA, I run firefox so will give that one a go.

....and yes, it works! Totally Money (a UK page BTW) is now longer popping under when I start to log in. Weird behaviour - I can look at the home page but as soon as I tried to log in, up it came. Well, no more!

Many thanks BA!

You're welcome Jonty, pleased it works for you. Don't forget to work your through it so you can update it regularly, there's a link somewhere, can't quite remember where. I have much more experience with a Hosts file but use ABP on a portable version of Furryfox which I have on a thumb drive. Well worth any small effort learning it.

Should anybody be interest in going the Hosts file route, I use two....HPGuru's and MVPS Hosts files. I manage them and merge them with a very nice little programme called HostsXpert. They update fairly regularly too. A total of 63,500 would slow your browser down so it is vital to go into Services.msc, find DNS Client. Double click on it, stop it and set Start up type to manual. Surfing sans popups etc is worth its weight in gold, but all the above are free.

A good site to find out about when they are updated is:-

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/security

From there you can access their Software forum, their Mozilla software forum and lots more. I appreciate that everybody's mileage varies and we are not all inclined to be a bit "geeky", but for those with the time and inclination these sites are worth visiting to keep up to date with security, software etc.

Has it been fully removed?
Every time I open a new Window in SN the same Popup window appears from this site: http://go.globaladsales.com/creative/je/jemm-gambling-pop.htm
I should add that I am only seeing this popup when accessing SN.
