Just watched an excellent TV programme about the RNLI. Really brought home the changes in the service over the years and used some wonderful former Cox'ns to explain some of their work. Actually showed the crew of the Longhope boat training, explained their loss with some touching words by the Cox'n of the Thurso boat who searched for her. Had the present Longhope boat with the cox'n who is the Grandson of the Cox'n lost.
Excellent discussion with the former Lerwick Cox'n who has received an amazing number of awards including a Gold medal for his rescues.
If you can find this programme I recommend it as a wonderful work dedicated to these men.
