hi,anyone sailed with robert "bob" winstanley?

Bob was third with me on the Clansman a couple of trips about 1980. An excellent reliable engineer well thought of by his colleagues. The ship was a nightmare but we all new that before we joined. Hope he is well.

Yes,
I recall your father well, he was on Clansman and/or Commander with me in their heyday. Good steady fellow, had Mrs Winstanley with him on at least one occasion Gulf and back. Was your mother's name not Gwen?

Best regards,
Roddie Mackenzie.

Am I right in saying that Bob was an ex engineroom rating who went to Leith and obtained a Part A Second's certificate?

I don't think it was at all easy, and many months were required.

There weren't many, I can only recall meeting 3 (including Bob).
