I flew out to Hong Kong to join this small container/bulker n the early 70s to find her sold on out of S/S. What was her story and what happened to her?

I flew out to Hong Kong to join this small container/bulker n the early 70s to find her sold on out of S/S. What was her story and what happened to her?
This vessel was never owned by Shaw Savill but was only managed. She was owned by the Sea Containers group who specialised in building classes of vessels for the charter market.

Her details are below and as you will see CAPTAIN PADDON was not her original name.

She was of the Tarros Class of which 12 were built.

Ice strengthened, RoRo cargo/containership with a stern ramp.
44 x 20' or 20 x 40' and 4 x 20' containers in the hold.
69 x 20' (including 33 refrigerated) containers on the deck.
1 x 30 ton gantry crane on deck.



ATLANTIC JAMAICAN (1971 - 1973) Tarros class.
O.N. 341497. 1,590g. 881n. 1,880d. 85.32 x 13.82 x 4.706 metres.
6-cyl. 4 S.C.S.A.(410 x 470mm) Werkspoor 6TM410 type oil engine manufactured by Stork-Werkspoor B. V., Amsterdam, geared to a controllable pitch propeller. 3,200 BHP, 15 kts. Thwartship thrust controllable pitch propeller forward.

8.4.1971: Launched by A. Vuijk & Zonen's Scheepswerven N. V., Capelle a/d Ijssel (Yard No.856), for Sea Containers Chartering Ltd. (J. B. Sherwood, manager), London. (Intended as TARROS CEDAR).

7.1971: Completed.

1973: Renamed BRITIS, (Shaw, Savill & Albion Company Ltd., managers). (Route BRITain – ISrael)

1974: Renamed CAPTAIN PADDON.

1975: Wallem Ship Management Ltd., appointed as managers.

1977: Removed from management.

1978: Transferred to Bermuda registry.

1982: Transferred to Tarros 2 Ltd., (Sea Container Services Ltd., managers), Liberia, and renamed SIBONEY II.

1985: Sea Management Services (S.M.S.), appointed as managers.

12.4.1985: Arrived at Holyhead, in a damaged condition, towed by IRVING CEDAR 492/74, and laid up.

31.10.1986: Departed from Holyhead.

1.11.1986: Arrived at Cairnryan for demolition by Shipbreaking Queenborough Ltd.
