Samidway was a standard Liberty ship operated by Blue Funnel during the war she completed a voyage to Russia in 1944 then a round the world trip lasting 12 months before returning to U.K anyone out there sailed on her. Would love to hear from you . Teb

SAMIDWAY (1944 - 1947) Liberty class steel steamship.
O.N. 169905. 7,280g. 4,450n. 422.8 x 57.0 x 34.8 feet.
T.3-cyl. (24", 37" & 70" x 48") engine made by the Harrisburg Machinery Corporation, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. 2,500 IHP.

6.5.1944: Launched by the New England Shipbuilding Corporation, Portland, Maine (Yard No. 3022), for the United States War Shipping Administration.

5.1944: Completed the Ministry of War Transport, (Alfred Holt & Company, managers), London.

4.1947: Sold to T. & J. Harrison & Company Ltd., Liverpool, and renamed SCHOLAR.

1964: Sold to Karavena Marine Enterprises S. A., Greece, and renamed KOSTANTIS YEMELOS.

3.1969: Demolished at Mihara.
