I would like to give a very big thankyou to everyone who has posted on this thread, it has been an insparation. Her indoors has moaned about the number of books coming through the post but never mind eh!
First sea time Pretoria Castle S'ton Capetown 1953, back to UK 1956 Durban Castle via East Africa to Tilbury on arrival aged 14, wonderful memories. At first oppertunity joined RN and stayed for 22 years retiring as a CWEM (R) in 1982 last ship HMS Battleaxe Type 22.
Worked as a Technician at Fleetwood Nautical College with Hughie Mac and John Holmes, the late Don Bee, Brian Davies and many more too many to mention, happy days!
Then 20 yrs with Lancashire Police as a Radio Technician laterly installing the Airwave Radio System All over the UK.
The memories of all these years both at sea and in the company of likeminded people have convinced me that there is no grater fraternity than that of the sea.
Please keep Posting your reading preferences. Thanks again. Trev. H.(Applause)

A belated welcome to the site Trevor. No wonder your dear lady is complaining, what with SN and all those books to read, you won't have time to do much else (Jester)
