I am looking for information on the final days of the HERMISTON (former ST.ROSARIO)
According to miramarshipindex.org.nz,
she was sold in 1971 and renamed HERMIONE
and in 1979 she became the MARIA SOFIA, judging from the names she sailed for Greek owners.
Her fate is recorded as bombed by aircraft at Basrah in 1981.
I guess that she either sunk in shallow water or damaged beyond repair. But like so many other vessels (http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/showthread.php?t=5167&highlight=trelyon)she could have been abandoned to the underwriters because it was not possible to recover her with the hostilities going on.
Does anyone know if she was later raised and scrapped or if her hulk still remains in the muddy river of Basrah?
