"The St. Lawrence Seaway Fifty Years and Counting"

I have just been given a copy of "The St. Lawrence Seaway Fifty Years and Counting" (Author: D'Arcy Jenish, ISBN: 1897323751) to commemorate the Seaway’s 50th anniversary in 2009, it is fantastic especially if you ever traded in this area, some great photos and support text, if you get the opportunity to pick up a copy then take it;

here a copy/paste of the contents:
Based on interviews, newspaper reports and official Seaway documents, the book also includes definitive accounts of:
• The construction of the Welland Canal Bypass.
•The Seaway-driven shipbuilding boom of the 1960s and 1970s.
•The development of the C-Loop self-unloading systems.
•The development of the Quebec/Labrador iron ore deposits and the huge grain sales to the USSR that drove Seaway traffic to record levels by the late 1970s.
•The development of the Highway H2O brand and the creation of a marketing partnership that includes the Canadian and American Seaway organizations, port authorities, shipping companies, shippers and other partners.

This is the first time that the complete history of the Seaway has been compiled in one volume. The SLSMC has printed a limited number of copies in English and French, but the corporation has also approved a commercial press run of the English edition.
