Panamanian ro-ro 'Jigsawa II' detained at Sheerness with 27 serious deficiencies

THE UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has detained the Panamanian registered Ro-Ro cargo vessel Jigawa II in Sheerness after inspectors found a large number of serious deficiencies.

The vessel operates between Northern Europe and West Africa. After a port state control inspection on the 15 July, it was revealed the vessel had 27 deficiencies including lifeboats not being properly maintained, corrosion and holes in bulkheads and deckheads and the emergency fire pump not being properly maintained with the exhaust giving off carbon monoxide when run.
