I am looking on behalf of a lifelong friend for background information regarding his uncle,[ career details, anecdotes etc] who was Master of WARWICK CASTLE when she was sunk when returning from the North Africa landings. He lived to be rescued but died minutes later

Capt Shaw's Commands were:
Dunluce Castle 6-9/1937:
Dromore Castle 12/1937-1/1939:
Roslin Castle 1/1939- 2/1940:
Roxburgh Castle 3-10/1940:
Warwick Castle 10/1940-11/1942::: Killed 14.11.1942 aet 57.

Captain Henry Richard Leepman Shaw was posthumously awarded a Mention in Despatches gazetted 18 May 1943 - for services during Operation Torch - the Allied landings in North Africa in November 1942.

Captain Shaw died aboard the rescue ship.
