Can anyone give me any information regarding an engine room explosion aboard the cargo vessel M.V.Soudan?

I joined the Soudan as a cadet in April 1952 which was after the explosion. But I remember being told by an engineer that pressure built up in the port engine scavange pump caused a failure and that part went into the adjacent refrigeration room and killed an engineer and also caused damage. Please note that this is hearsay and may not be 100% accurate.
