Very interested to read note on New Endeavour
The only error was the date vessel burnt
She was burnt in 1987
I bought her as she had a broken back and was blocking the Riley's Hill dry dock. i needed the dry dock for the South Steyne which I was supervising the rebuild of.
The sails and yards were sold ,likewise the generator and fire pump.
The vessel had badly waterlogged timbers and took nealy 20 gallons of diesel to get her burning.
.Day 1 She was burnt back to the mainmast.
Day 2 The after part was burnt.
The dock was then drained and about 4 truck loads of ash were removed.
It was a shame to burn her but the cost of repairs was prohibitive.

Many thanks for the correction to the New Endeavour thread. The reason I said 1985 was due to the fact she left Sydney and went to drydock then. We had her in dock for 18 months but as far as I was concerned she finished in 1985.

The masts and spars apparently were bought to adorn a shopping centre but were later purchased by the people building 'Windward Bound' in Tasmania and are still sailing on that vessel. At least that was the way I heard it!
