Benvannoch (3) 1921 ex- Dakarian, 1939 purchased from T & J. Harrison, Liverpool renamed Benvannoch, 1946 sold to Andrew Weir & Co, London renamed Birchbank. 6,427 Grt.

Was it Kaoshuing ???
I was on the old Ben Lawers when they did that and the Captain said "I have never run a vessel aground,or intend to" you do it ". It was a terrible feeling no matter what you say but she did 19 knots The Engineers gave her everything she had without the boilers blowing up!!!

PS . The Chippy on board Harry Nutten served 25 years on that vessel before joining the twin funnelled Bencruachan

on the coast after that with benlomond.dec. 1953
o.n. 167859. n.t. 4282. g.t. 7141. i.h.p. 2500.
