AN SD14 in Shanghai

In the Spring of 1997 I was in Shanghai for a meeting and I staying in the old Ocean Hotel in the Jewish Quarter; looking out of my window I could see a berth and over the two days I was there a very "pukka" SD14, black hull, green decks, red hatchcovers, buff spars, white accomodation block all looking quite spotless berthed alongside, rigged union purchase and commenced discharging crates onto the wharf at really rather a good rate.

I would guess she was Greek, from the paint scheme; I don't recall the flag and could not read the name.

Only reason for mentioning this is that that was the last time that I saw a really smart conventional tweendeck tramp with everything working. It did my heart good to watch!
