Crew saved from bulker fire

Twenty-one mainly Filipino crew have been rescued from a cargoship that caught fire off Spain.

The incident happened on 19 March when the 18,600–dwt Theodore Jr (built 1983) was passing through the Strait of Gibraltar, local reports said.

An explosion in the engine room caused the blaze, which was extinguished the same day.

The vessel sent out an emergency call and several tugs went to the scene.

The ship, operated Sea Force Enterprises of Greece, was carrying phosphate.
