Virus outbreak cuts cruise short (BBC News)

A cruise liner is to end her trip early after a number of passengers fell ill with the winter vomiting virus.

When I did a cruise with Fred Olsen five years ago, I was very impressed with their routine to avoid any outbeak illness with regards to unsanitary cnditions. As one entered the restaurants a steward was offering antibacterial lotion to everyone and as one returned from shoreside the lower end of the gangway was also manned and the lotion was offered to all. All the handrails were also treated several times daily, where it all falls down is people using toilets and then not washing hands etc. Perhaps its the passengers is where the blame lies for such outbreaks,
