This battleship is normally anchored in Talcahuano, Chile and was built in the U.K. back in 1860-1865 . Yard: Laird Bros Ltd Birkenhead.
Length 38 metres breadth 10 metres draft 3.4 metres.
Ironclad turretship. displacement: 1,870 Maudslay return connecting engine 300 hp, 1 screw 12 knots.
The vessel was involved in the war between Peru and Chili in 1879, being the flagship of the Peruvian Navy.
It was thereafter conquered by Chile and is now a historical naval museum.

Jan,
I'm a relative newcomer to SN and have just come across your photo in the preserved ships section. Do you know if she is still afloat? What really intrigues as an ex-marine engineer is whether she still has her original engines and boilers. I'm going to start a Google hunt now to see if I can glean any more info. Thanks for posting the photo.
