Sailed on both of these ferries in the mid late seventies and eighties, from Europoort to Hull and back, very good ships well appointed cabins, even the Missus liked them! Very comfortable crossings too, only ran into trouble on one trip when I met a very stroppy HM Customs man with No Humour, still, in fifty years plus travelling across borders, it was the only time that I had to pay a fine and lost a bottle!

There is a fleet of old ferries being scrapped, because they do not comply with SOLAS 2010 safety regulations.

The two ferries have been replaced since 01 oct 2010 by the newer SNAV SARDEGNA and SNAV LAZIO, in the UK and The Netherlands better known as the former OLAU twins OLAU Hollandia and OLAU Britannia. They sailed as new built ferries on the route Flushing - Sheerness during their period for the OLAU line.

The two ferries have been replaced since 01 oct 2010 by the newer SNAV SARDEGNA and SNAV LAZIO, in the UK and The Netherlands better known as the former OLAU twins OLAU Hollandia and OLAU Britannia. They sailed as new built ferries on the route Flushing - Sheerness during their period for the OLAU line.

My two favourite ferries using Dutch Ports, much safer than the Heralds and Prides, (I was on one coming back from Sheerness the night of the disaster at Zeebrugge), Was on one of the first Olau trips and on one of the very last, the most reliable ferry crossing after the Hook-Harwich. A marketing director in a company I worked for had set up the whole sales and Marketing system for Olau, he lived in Dunstable when I knew him.

I'm suprised those Storks (TM410s) even complied with basic marine engineering principles let alone any regulations....shudder...(Jester)
