Hello Lifeboat colleagues,

Following a very successful, yet quickly arranged trip from Portishead to Cardiff for 6 ex Lifeboats in October last year Craig and Bevis are planning a very relaxed and informal tour of the North Devon and South Wales coasts and harbours over the 2011 Easter holiday on the 2 1933 single screw Liverpool Class Lifeboats, The Always Ready and The Nellie and Charlie.

If other Lifeboats or historic boat owners would like to join us on all or part of the trip, then you would be very welcome. The previous trip for the 6 Lifeboats was great fun for the crews/friends and the public reception in Portishead, Cardiff and Penarth was quite amazing!

Weather permitting the Easter route could be based on this rough timetable:

Friday 22 April. Start from Sharpness to Cardiff, overnight in Cardiff Bay/Penarth.
Saturday, Cardiff to Ilfracombe
Sunday, shore day around Ilfracombe
Monday, Ilfracombe to Clovelly
Tuesday, Clovelly to Lundy
Wednesday, stay at Lundy, kayaking, diving, walking etc
Thursday, Lundy to Tenby
Friday, Tenby to Burry Port
Saturday, Burry Port to Cardiff
Sunday, stay in Cardiff
Monday 2 May, Cardiff to Sharpness

Alternatively, if work and weather permit, we could start/finish from Portishead, cruising straight to Ilfracombe, spending a little more shore time at Clovelly or Tenby.

If other boat owners are interested, please let us know via this thread.

To follow this social trip there is then the planned Lifeboat gathering at Portishead in July /August around the Bristol Harbour Festival time which Andy Iannetta (Arun Class, Mabel Alice) and Keith Berry of Portishead Marina (Solent Class, The Douglas Currie) are co-ordinating, so the Easter trip can be seen as a "warm up" for this event.
