The Royal New Zealand Navy is on exercise with the US Navy in the Pacific for the first time in 28 years !
( since the Anzus rift back in 1984 )

The exercise, dubbed Pacific Partnership, is a US-led humanitarian mission initially to Tonga and Vanuatu which involves New Zealand, Australia, France and the United States.

The crew of the Canterbury will commemorate Anzac Day with the crew of the USS Cleveland, the lead vessel in the current exercise undertaking engineering and medical work in the Pacific. Crew members
of US and NZ ships will deploy onto each others vessels in order to advance cooperation during the deployment. (Applause)

It's about time. Cheers, John.

I think that there have been close links with the USN than have been 'publicised'. Politicians rule OK !!

Hi VIP
When a brand new naval ship is undergoing trials before being accepted and commissioned, she flies the red ensign and is called 'NUSHIP XXXXXX'
