Hi,
Have signed up to try and find out any information at all around my father who passed away when I was a child, and who I have found out today was on the Palm Line - i think this is where he did his apprenticeship? His name was John Ashton, from Bromborough Pool and was born 30/7/1935 and when he left he joined Prices as an engineer - and that's as much as I know really(Sad).

Welcome onboard crossway, there are quite a few ex Palm Line people on the site, so they might be able to help you.
Cheers Frank

His service record should be held at Kew in file classification BT 382/2046 (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/displaycataloguedetails.asp?CATID=8125350&CATLN=6&accessmethod=5)
The file is best obtained by a visit to Kew [free], it can be obtained online but at a price. If applying online ask for the CRS 10 for "R659847 ASHTON J C 30/07/1935 BROMBOROUGH CHESHIRE"

Thank you again Hugh, I really appreciate your help.
I've asked for an estimate for copies from Kew so will wait to hear back and then decide whether its cheaper to travel down to London.
