I came across this forum while googling the ex-Belfast pilot boat, Mabel Helen, and was pleasantly surprised to find some very interesting early shots of her during her service with the port of Belfast.
Iím interested in Tyrell pilot boats in general and would be grateful for any information on her sister ships.

I find this site really interesting and hope to spend more time on it.

Welcome to S N. I find the site very interesting & helpful. It has brought back many happy memories for me. In regard to the Mabel Helen, my father was with the Belfast Pilot Service for 23 years. He started of in charge of the Rosa, then the Eleanor Laura, and then the Mabel Helen. My favourite would have been the M Hn. I went on one accasion with the Pilot Master Capt J A Patton & dad to Tyrell,s of Arklow to bring the Eleanor Laura back to Belfast after the annual overhaul. I thoroughly enjoyed it I think Tyrell,s also built pilot boats for the Bristol Channel Pilots.
Regards,
Alex C .
