Just wanted to say hello. My father was in the Royal Navy for 12 years including the second world war. He served on several ships including HMS Cumberland, "Royal Sovereign" and many more. He was on arctic convoys and also at Malta and just about everywhere else. My family used to have a lot of pictures but somehow they got lost, probably in the flood in 1974 when my parents house in Brisbane Australia was flooded. I am interested in photographs especially of the arctic convoys.
My father was Irish his name was James Thornton, but of course, he often got dubbed Paddy. He was tall dark haired and had an easy going manner - it would be great if someone remembered him. He was a stoker then a Leading hand Stoker.
