I have joined to be able to discuss with others my lifelong interest in ships, particularly the last commercial sailing ships. Turning 80 next week I have been researching sailing ships since 1942. Spent 3 years in Naval Reserve but became a career engineer, wrote a book Windjammers The Final Story', I have a vast amount of research material on sailing ships so if anyone wants to know anything about the sailing ships that existed from 1850 onwards then I can possibly help. see my website www.robertcarter.com.au for more information. I am also a practising marine artist and president of the Australian Society of Marine Artists. Received an OAM this year for my services to the Arts through the research, docomentation and illustration of the lasat years of the commercial sailing ships.
