Why and when did SSL change the funnel of the Northern Star from buff to green, adding the yellow cross or star ?

Hi Malcolm
Have you visited the nzmaritime web site. There is a picture(scroll down) of her in Wellington in December 1965 with the green funnel and star. It appears to be around this time(mid sixties)
