Does anyone have any information on HMS Islay

Hi Tim,
What time scale are we looking at with this ?? - have had a quick look at a couple of reference books and cant find any mention - but the name does ring a bell of sorts. Are we looking at something more modern?, something perhaps under construction?.

Is this the armed trawler T172 that sunk an Italian submarine?

I think that there was only one HMS ISLAY, the one mentioned by David above (T172). She sank the Italian submarine SCIRE of the coast of Haifa. Built during 1941 and sold out of naval service in 1946.

HMS Islay. Built 1940. Became St. Anne (merchant) 1949. Lost, March 14. 1950.
