A ship recently sold for scrap was named "Canico". Paul Mason's site says she was built in 1969 as the "Aberavon" 2,642 dwt.
Can anyone tell me who were her original owners and more on the history of this coaster?

That explains it! I was looking for a coaster, not a dredger. I have found out she was the largest dredger permanently assigned to a UK port at the time.

David, re the Aberavon she was 4 craned mud dredger based mainly in Swansea her skipper from new was Bob Jones who was a mate of mine who died last year. When sold she went to dredge clear sand for glass making off the Algarve Coast thats the last I heard of her .Spent many times aboard with Bob. Hope this helps regards Chris Rogers (new member)

Sorry, but the "yellow dredger" in the photo is not Canišo,but the ARCO.
Canišo ex Aberavon had a black hull, a large and high superstructures after, a blue funnel and 4 grab-cranes
