Hello everyone, I am looking for information on the subsequent fate of the following Bank freighters:

Maplebank, sold 1979 to Greece as Kavo Yossonas
Weybank, sold 1979 as Golden Nigeria
Minchbank, sold 1974 as Aegis Grace

Any ideas?

Hi Aristo. I saw the "Maplebank" in Port Lincoln Australia in 1947/8

She was a Liberty Ship running grain to Karachi.

Is that the same Maplebank or was there a later one?

If that's the one, then you can follow her "career" on a Liberty Ship website

No, that's different ships. I refer to the 1967-built Maplebank.

20 years later! Hmm........Funny how time stands still in one's mind, but in reality it flies by.

Maplebank built in Belfast by Harland & Wolff in 1967, sister ship to Gowanbank. Sold 1979 and became Kavo Yossonas, arrived for scrapping in Karachi 29.8.85.
Weybank was built by Harland & wolff in Belfast in 1964.Sold 1979 became Golden Nigeria, arrived Kaoshiung for scrap 18.4.84.
Minchbank, built by Harland & Wolff 1958, sold1972 became Aegis Grace, sold again 1978 retained name, sold again 1979 became Grace.arrived in tow at Kaoshiung for scrap 28.4.78.

I mention Gowanbank as I sailed on her in 1977, these two ships where excellent.
I hope this is helpful.

thanks a lot PJW, just one think you mention that Minchbank was renamed GRACE in 1979 but arrived at the breakers in 28.4.78. Do you ment to right 28.4.79?
