Jeff,
Typical BP ports & you never knew where you were going next. I often wondered why they didn't build a pipeline between Grain, Purfleet & Thameshaven....On vessels with only 2 apprentices shuttling between those ports could be a killer, especially if one of you was a Londoner & wanted to go & see a girlfriend for a day or 2.
I'll dig out my trips on the British Patriot & post details for comparison sometime.
Regards,
John.

John I did three trips on Old Border Boats, I was only on the Fusilier for a short time but the Lass and the Laird were similar trips started off on the coast till ports around Europe got fed up of cargo leakling out through rivet holes and we were sent deep sea for a while.

Talking about leaks I well remember that the Border Reiver had grounded in the Amazon prior to me joining and there was one hell of a cement box in No6 Starb'd (If I remember correctly).

You could also see daylight between some adjoining tank bulkheads whilst tank diving.

I vividly remember asking the Serang and his merry men to stop chipping the deck above during one such excursion below. They did stop while we were getting into the tank, then set to again as soon as we were out of sight!

Ah....happy days!
