Hain ships missing

Hi everyone, I am looking for information on the final fate of two Hain SS ships: the 1961-built "Trefusis" which was last reported in 1981 under the name "Evia" as trapped at Basrah due to the Iran-Iraq war,
and the 1949-built "Trelyon" which was last reported in 1974 as the "Hua Shan" sailing under the Chinese flag.

Trefusis: renamed Strathteviot in 1975 renamed Evia(Greek) in 1978 detained in Basarah in 1980

Treylon: renamed Yunglutaton in 1963 renamed Hu Shan(China) in 1974 since broken up

An excellent source indeed, however it lacks the final story of those two ships.

Trefusis/Evia must have left Bashrah at some point or scrapped on the spot. In a similar case, the trapped STEEL TRADER (former SAMARIA of Cunard) was not erased from Lloyd's Register until 1991.

Ive often wondered about the Trefusis, as far as I'm aware she is still rusting away on/in/under the Shatt al Arab! I sailed on her about 1973, a one off for Hains as she was Chinese crewed all the others were British crewed.I believe she was changed to Chinese during the seamans strike in the 60's.She had one sister the Trebartha,

I believe that some of the Iraqi wrecks were cleared several years ago, whilst others remain. Since all of the ships were declared losses and abandoned by owners, there is no documentation to say what was cut up and removed and what remains.

Ive searched our Computer onboard and for Trefusis it still says detained at Bashrah could possibly be a hulk now

Just had a look a google earth and some of the Iraqi wrecks can be clearly seen:

If you scroll left you come accross the wreck of what appears to be an old cargo liner from the 50s/early 60s. Bit of a long shot, but could that be it?

The latest we have on her is she is a hulk at Basarah

Treylon we think was scrapped in ROC around 1991. Apparently she was used as a target for jet fighters from a article we found in a Hong Kong paper but not 100% certain.

A real graveyard! Following the river I counted more than 15 ships half sunk there. Which one do you think might be the Trefusis/Evia?

If you continue 'up' the river there's a vessel lying half submerged close to the left bank. It's an old vessel with a three-quarter aft profile. However, looking at the pic posted of the Trefusis, it doesn't appear to be the same ship.

I have to agree with Pilot mac, this wreck seems to be older.

What do you think about this one? It has three holds fore and two aft, like the Trefusis.

I looked at that one and thought it much more likely to be Trefusis. (I could'nt save the image from google earth). I havnt looked any further down river yet.

I also went down river wierd place,don't want to play "who spots more" but hunters did their job well,easy but good.
By zooming in I also noticed that there's many more buried under the mud and you can see just a funnel or sometime some structure.
even if tragic view it's fascinating in some way.
But what a waste as usual.

Regarding "Trefusis", I have her being renamed "Horizon" and 9 September 1993 arrived Gadani Beach for breaking up, being beached on 12 September.

Well, this one looks like she is about to sail...pilot boat or tug alongside!
