My grandfather sailed on her during the war, round to Bombay.
His memories, via my father are this: My mother said he was away from England for a year before joining the Lylepark. I remember him talking about Bombay, South Africa, incredible heat, repairinig refrigeration equipment, flying fish, bumboats, and breaking down and falling behind the convoy frequently.
Anyone else here sail on the Nairnbank during the war?
My grandfather was William Archbold, Bill, was a 4th Engineer.
Any information and pictures about the ship would also be most welcome.
