Snippet from the shipping press -

EGYPT is seeking the extradition from Britain of the owner of the ferry that sank in the Red Sea in February with the loss of 1,400 lives.

Also there was a minor mention yesterday of an explosion on a Japanese tanker that took 3 lives. Has anyone heard or seen any details.?

Cheers,

Rushie

The 'explosion' is probably a misreport of an incident that took place on Monday on the 1,600–dwt Shuho Maru (built 1993). Three men were overcome by benzene fumes whilst washing tanks and subsequently died from poisoning. However, there was no explosion.
