I have come across some interesting articles from the Scotsman Newspaper which may be of interest to members.

The first url leads to the story of the loss of Cunard's Tuscania which was sunk by U 77, off the Isle of Islay, on 5 February 1918. Only months later, on 6 October 1918, HMS Otranto was also lost with American soldiers on board.

This second url leads to two pages of famous Scottish disasters. Not all of them are maritime but I'm sure they will be of interest.
